19th Century Bronze Daubière

This is a bronze stewpot circa 1800's France. The meat goes into the pot and stands with its tripod legs on the fire, then the lid forms a complete seal. Although probably functional, it is likely now more desirable as a decorative object than anything with it's oval form and sculptural spikes.
