One of two works by Dietrich Männel. An artist and engineer from Weimar, who moved to Paris to make art and earned a living as an engineer. The works are amorphic and undulating. A quote from the catalogue "Strangely, the forms are simplified through enlargement, as in the Pop Art works of Lichtenstein or Wesselmann, and, as in the hyperrealist works of Don Eddy or Robert Cottingham, this enlargement allows for an exhaustion of the configurations that preserves them from any untimely connotative obscuring. Dietrich Mannel goes to the heart of the matter, which here is to move from contemplative metaphysics to productive physics."
