Large paper-on-board panel, originally part of the shop fit-out at the Gavina showroom in Bologna, designed by architect Carlo Scarpa.
Furniture pioneer Dino Gavina commissioned Scarpa to design the flagship store on Via Altabella, in Bologna’s historic medieval centre. The store remained Gavina’s home until 1990, after which it became a toy shop, vintage clothing store and record shop. This panel was likely installed towards the end of the Gavina period.
The textured surface has dyes and paint applied to the crinkled paper. The geometric shapes become more visible from a distance and reflect the design of the shop’s façade.
Some wear to the corners.
